Was there even a question that this car wasn't a ringer?

How do they explain the time on Top Gear or in all the magazines. They are just whining.

It was obviously a ringer.

Dont want to light an old fire but that old "ringer" thread seems to have some credibility.

So.... The ZR1 beat the GTR by how much now?

Take a look at all the magazines that did a comparo that included the GTR and the turbo and which one seem to come out on top most of the time (check out GTR vs Porsche on Road & Track, Car and Driver, Top Gear just to name a few of MANY tests). Most agreed that the GTR is very stable at high speed as well and easier to drive. Porsche also used a USDM version which has different tires compared to the JDM version...tires make a huge difference (not saying its worth the differences in the times but just pointing it out).

How about Porsche hire the GTR test driver for the test? He obviously had more time with the car and knows what's he doing and vice versa.

Porsche was so worried/concern that they had to buy the car and see for themselves. Nissan should be flattered. THis is an idiotic move on their part. Here they are, one of the most respective/premier brand in the world and all they can do is whine about what a "a Nissan" can or can't do?

Do you really think Porsche would come out and say, "Oh, we test the GTR at the ring and we were able to duplicate the time." What incentive would they have....think about it.

And you own a ZR1? Unless you do this comes across as fanboyism. ZR1 will compete with the V-Spec anyway so what is the point in saying this. Should be more like, "The GT-R beat the Z06 by how much?"

Wel this move puts nissan on the hot seat. If they cant produce a similar time, they will be blasted. If they can, they can shove it in porsches face. If nissan fails to respond, most will assume it was a ringer.
What would be cool if they both put thier best drivers in the cars and go head to head. That would be awesome. or top 3 drivers vs top 3. It would be great exposure for both companies, but one would walk away with egg on its face.

in my opinion, If prosche was able to replicate the time, they would not have made an issue out of it.
